Facebook Algorithm Goes Too Far: Picks up “mutt” for a kitten as hate speech
As a social media consultant for over 12 years, I know the rules on every network. As a CANNABIS social media consultant, I am overly educated on the TOS, because it’s my job, and people pay me to know what the fuck I’m doing.
I got a kitten last week. He looks Siamese. He is not Siamese, though. He was a rescue.
On a Facebook post about my kitten, someone commented that he looks Siamese. I responded with: “Well, he is a mutt that looks Siamese. Hahaha! He is the white trash versio. (sic)”
Hate speech. For either using “mutt” or “white trash” to describe a kitten.
I have filed appeals. The first one was responded to — and denied — immediately. The second has been sitting there for 24 hours.
This is Facebook censoring users. This is a normal, everyday conversation that people have. Our dogs are mutts. White trash? For a description of a kitten makes it hate speech?
Come the fuck ON, Facebook.
This is asinine. AND WRONG.
